Protesters reclaim rights at Oakland docks

OAKLAND – Bowing to intense pressure from the community and public officials, Oakland police remained largely on the sidelines as more than a thousand demonstrators, May 12, reasserted their constitutional right to picket at the docks against companies profiteering from the occupation of Iraq.

ILWU convention calls for peace, not war

SAN FRANCISCO — The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) called on the Bush administration and Congress to adopt policies of peace, as delegates to the 32nd International Convention overwhelmingly passed resolutions against the war in Iraq and in opposition to President Bush’s foreign policy.
