NEW YORK — U.S. peace activists will have a chance to interact with their counterparts from around the world at a May Day friendship and solidarity reception here sponsored by the Communist Party USA and the People’s Weekly World newspaper. The reception will take place after the May 1 nuclear disarmament rally in Central Park.

“May Day is a holiday for the working class, and it represents the fight for workers’ rights everywhere,” said Sam Webb, CPUSA national chair. “What better way to celebrate international solidarity of the working people then to meet and greet guests who have traveled across the globe to call for the end of Bush’s nuclear policies that threaten all of humanity?”

The reception will take place May 1, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m., at Winston Unity Hall, 235 West 23rd St., between 7th and 8th Avenues. Music, poetry and speakers will be part of a short program. Everyone is invited to attend.
