Hondurans fighting coup

TEGUCIGALPA (Prensa Latina) Honduran peoples organizations began Tuesday with a new day of peaceful resistance after 17 days of rallies and other demonstrations against the June 28 military coup. Social forces from the National Front against the Coup agreed on in an Monday assembly to increase actions to achieve the restitution of President Manuel Zelaya and constitutional order.

Members of six teaching schools confirmed the decision to continue a strike started 24 hours after the coup began until democratic legality restored in the nation.

Similar demonstrations took place in the city of San Pedro Sula, 155 miles north of Tegucigalpa.

Leaders from the Liberal Party and the National Front convened a meeting today to agree actions against the right-wing sector that helped the coup.
