"Immigration Myths vs. Facts" available for download

"Immigration Myths vs. Facts," a bi-lingual, six-page booklet issued by People's World/Mundo Popular, exposes the anti-immigrant furor and answers frequently asked questions about why so many immigrants are coming to the United States, the impact of immigration on the economy, and how to achieve equal rights for all working families.

This booklet is a must-read and must-share as immigrant youths and their parents are joined by the nation's unions and faith organizations marching, voting and demanding comprehensive immigration reform with a path to legalization, an end to family separation and a road map to citizenship with worker's rights.

  • Hi you guys left out Africans and Afro-Caribbeans when you said that Latino and Asian American voters are rejecting republicans.

  • People who come here by overstaying a student or work visa and those who cross borders without permission know they have broken the rules and are subject to deportation. Yet they take jobs, have children and then when caught scream that "families are being separated!" Isn't this self-serving on their part? The immigration system does not need fixing just because the people who broke it say so.

  • It is really risible. First, the us steals half of mexico--yes, it was a theft, no matter what the history books show!. Look up what Abe Lincoln said about the so-called, "Mexican War!" Then the us says that the real owners of these lands cannot have rights there!

Look up the real history--not the lies. Mexico did not want to sell one inch of its territory. The us, hungry for empire wanted more land, so they just took it. They called it manifest destiny. Even a theater is San Antonio Texas is named the "empire".

That war against Mexico and the theft of half of Mexico will live in infamy.

But wait, history is not over yet. Divine intervention (manifest destiny) has deemed that these stolen lands will some day be returned to the rightful owners--maybe without firing a shot!!!!!

  • We want COMPREHENSIVE immigration reform, not what S.744 is offering which is basically militarization of the border and criminalization of immigrants. It isn't truth that 11 million will become legal residents or citizens. Most won't meet the stringent requirements laid out in this proposal. The ICIRR is supporting S.744, and we must question its motive for doing so.
