LOUIS – After 25 days of strikes and lockouts, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 655 and Schnuck’s, Dierbergs, and Shop ’n Save announced an agreement on wages and health care benefits covering 10,000 grocery store employees on Nov. 1. The agreement has been hailed as a victory by the union.

I say this as someone who worked for Ralphs Supermarkets for 13 years in the service bakery and service deli, serving as a store steward in Local 770 of the United Food and Commercial Workers.
MINNEAPOLIS – Striking clerical workers at the University of Minnesota have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract with the university administration and will return to work on Nov. 5.
