California, with the nation's biggest insurance market, continues to lead the nation in preparing for next year's launch of the Affordable Care Act, or "Obamacare."
A group of Democratic lawmakers moved quickly yesterday and filed a bill that would give the people of the nation the right to choose a publicly run health insurance plan.
As the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments by Affordable Care Act's opponents, including 26 states, other states are already putting parts of the law into practice as they look toward full implementation in 2014.
The contrast could not be starker. In the nation's capital, Congressional Republicans move to cripple, if not kill, health care reform. In California, state public officials and health care advocates move aggressively to pump life into the landmark federal Affordable Care Act.
