The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization announced that a total of 38 countries worldwide have already met all or part of the "Millennium Goals" for the reduction of hunger, malnutrition and poverty.

There was little good news for the world's billion hungry people at the UN World Food Organization (FAO) Summit held November 16 - 18 in Rome.

One in six of world are going hungry

The UN has warned that the global financial meltdown has pushed the ranks of the world's hungry to a record 1 billion. UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) officials reported at the weekend that, because of war, drought, political instability, high food prices and poverty, hunger now affects 1.02 billion - up 11 per cent from last year's 915 million.
