Actor Rose McGowan announced she was fired by her agents for protesting sexism in casting call for an Adam Sandler film. The note suggested actors show clevage and wear push up bras.
McGowan said “”It was just so dumb,I was offended by the stupidity more than anything. I was offended by the fact that went through so many people’s hands and nobody red flagged it. This is normal to so many people. It was probably even a girl that had to type it up. It’s institutionally OK.”
McGowan, commented later that Hollywood is stuck in the Mad Men era. The actor, well known for her roles in the TV show “Charmed” and the Grindhouse project, went on to say that she has been battling sexism in Hollywood for two decades.
Sandler’s production company denied responsibility for the casting note “They were not aware the casting director sent this note out,” the source said. “They felt it was completely inappropriate and have made sure that it has not been sent out again.”
McGowan has been outspoken in her defense of marriage equality, and equal rights for all.
