RAMALLAH, Palestine—A high-level tripartite leadership meeting was held in the city of Ramallah in July between delegations representing the leadership bodies of the Israeli Communist Party, the Palestinian People’s Party, and the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash).

The meeting reviewed the latest political and battlefield developments in light of the ongoing war and genocide to which the Palestinian people are being subjected, especially in the Gaza Strip. It also discussed ways to enhance the struggle and joint action of all three organizations.

Attendees surveyed the most prominent dangers facing the Palestinian cause and the current challenges due to the aggression and policies of the fascist Israeli occupation government and its efforts, together with the U.S. administration, to liquidate the Palestinian cause and rights. Foremost among them are the right to self-determination, the establishment of an independent state, and the right of return in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

The meeting stressed the urgent issues and tasks, prioritizing collective efforts and intensifying the joint struggle to stop Israel’s aggressive war and the genocide it is committing. Lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, opening its crossings and securing the food, health, and housing needs of its people was identified as an immediate necessity. The return of the displaced, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip, and the curbing of all its crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories rounded out the list.

The PPP, the CPI, and Hadash agreed that the Palestinian people’s conflict with the occupation is a national liberation issue and that true peace can only be achieved by ending the occupation and achieving the freedom and independence of the State of Palestine on all the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of the three organizations agreed to maintain contact and intensify their joint struggle to expand and escalate all forms of solidarity with the Palestinian people and to use all possible means and forms to achieve this in cooperation with sister and friendly parties and forces.

They also agreed to collaborate on exposing the Zionist narrative of the occupation and the media manipulation of the Israeli state while working to expand and strengthen the circle of support and relief for the Palestinian people.

The meeting included leadership delegations from the three forces, headed by the General Secretary of the Israeli Communist Party, Adel Amer; the head of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality and its members of the Knesset: Ayman Odeh, Aida Touma, and Yousef Al-Atawneh; the Secretary of the Democratic Front, Amjad Shbeita; and the head of the Foreign Relations Committee, Reem Hazan.

In addition to the Palestinian People’s Party General Secretary Bassam Al-Salihi, a number of other members of the Political Bureau and the Central Committee participated: Asem Abdel Hadi, Fadwa Khader, Afif Ghatasha, Suhail Al-Salman, Fahmi Shaheen, Munjed Aw Jeish, Reda Awadallah, Aql Taqz, Nizam Attaya, and Moataz Al-Sayed. There were also several other party, union, and professional cadres, including Hael Hawarin and Issam Bakr.
