People’s World: Reporting the truth since 1924

“In a time of universal deceit—telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

Earlier this month, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously, 9-0, that the Trump administration must “facilitate” the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States. The Salvadorian national was deported on March 15, despite legally living in the country. He was accused of being an MS-13 gang member, and—with no trial to determine innocence or guilt—Garcia has been detained at the Center for Terrorism Confinement, a maximum-security prison in El Salvador.

Since that ruling by the highest court in our country, the White House administration has not only defied the judgment, refusing to work to bring Garcia back to the U.S., but Trump has appeared on national television to blatantly give his “alternative facts” on the ruling itself.

“We won that case 9-0. Basically, that’s a decision that will be made by the government of El Salvador… It’s interesting because we won that decision 9-0 in the Supreme Court, and if you listen to the news, you wouldn’t know that,” the president asserted to a Fox News TV personality who simply nodded along to his words without any pushback.

And while one too many news stations and publications have been hesitant to call Trump’s Executive Orders what they are—illegal—and to point out the dire moment we as a country face when it comes to the life of democracy as we know it, People’s World has been loud and clear in reporting the truth.

Thousands of working people have organized political boycotts and public demonstrations to express their outrage over the direction the country is heading.

They are being told by those in power that it is in their best interests that there are cuts to public services, education, and all the benefits that have been fought for by the working class.

They are being told that the current tariff war is some sort of “art of the deal” that will undoubtedly bring more jobs to the U.S. and more prosperity to everyday people.

Yet the facts speak for themselves. We are potentially facing a constitutional crisis. The country is looking down the barrel of a gun that aims to shoot down the freedoms and liberties we hold dear.

There is an organized effort by those who benefit from this chaos to push disinformation, untruths, and spin regarding what is happening. They rely on ignorance, word salads, and distraction in the hope that the 99% will be largely uninformed and apathetic.

People’s World has been on the frontline pushing back against lies, because we understand the power of the truth.

For the past 100 years, we’ve understood that there’s no need for spin when you’re reporting on the right side of history. Since the creation of our predecessor, the Daily Worker, in 1924, the publication has made it a priority to dispel the mythos around capitalist exploitation while giving an honest view of the lives, struggles, and victories of working people.

And we’d like to keep with that mission for as many years to come, BUT we need your help to do just that.

Due to budget restraints, sacrifices have been made, but cost-cutting alone can’t keep People’s World afloat. That’s why we are reaching out to supporters to help us fulfill our fundraising goal of $125,000.

There are so many ways in which you can help to keep history alive.

Become a monthly sustainer and take ownership of the publication that has your back.

Sparing $5, $10, $25, $50, even $100 or more per month can go a long way.

Can you afford a one-time DONATION to the campaign?

Build community and host an event in your area that can raise funds for the publication!

There are many ways to come together to champion the freedom of the press and the advocacy journalism that People’s World provides. This can be in the form of birthday and anniversary parties, political discussion forums, reading clubs, and more.

So far, the outpouring of support has been a testament to the impact the publication has had on the continued movement for a better world.

Currently, the thermometer is at $85,000, and that was no small feat to get there, but reaching our goal is essential for the continued health and function of People’s World.

That’s because the success of People’s World is not based solely on the professional journalism and news analysis we provide, but in collaboration with supporters like you who read and share our coverage. It’s a collaborative effort that we don’t take lightly, and we know you understand the weight of this moment.

Donate to the People’s World Fund Drive ‘25 and take part in the revolutionary act of championing truth in a time where lies and corruption threaten the future.

Onward!

Sincerely,
