Prague, (Prensa Latina) Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg traveled to the US Sunday to discuss the projected positioning of part of the anti-missile shield, encouraged by former US President George W. Bush, in the central European nation.
Schwarzenberg plans to meet with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Senator John Kerry, according to the Czech Foreign Ministry.
Last year, Prague and Washington signed two agreements to set up a radar station, which were approved by the Czech Senate.
The project is now waiting for the approval of the European lower house, and the final decision of the current administration of US President Barack Obama.
The radar station would be located in Brdy, about 49.7 miles southwest of Prague, and would be complemented with 10 sets of interceptor missiles the US plans to position in Poland.
The system, to begin operations in 2012 if approved, is rejected by Russia, alleging it poses threats to its security.
