There are 200,000 ways you can support People’s World

Dear readers and supporters,

People’s World has an enormous challenge ahead of it—to raise $200,000 from readers and supporters in 2023, including $125,000 during the Fund Drive, which runs from Feb. 1 to May 1. This is an absolute must-do!

The goal is larger than past years because production costs, like everything else, have risen dramatically. The great news is we’ve already raised $35,000. That’s fantastic, but that was the easy part.

Please donate to help People’s World reach our $200,000 goal. We appreciate whatever you can donate: $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or more.

Reaching the goal ensures People’s World will not curtail efforts to reach, engage, mobilize, and ally with millions in the epic fight to defend U.S. constitutional democracy as the most immediate task and win the long-term vision of sustainable Bill of Rights socialism.

In addition, we must succeed if this publication is going to:

  • Engage in the “battle of ideas” against a highly concentrated corporate media decimating local news coverage and an extreme-right, fascist media/propaganda system brainwashing tens of millions of our fellow Americans.
  • Ensure the existence of an effective relationship builder with and between activists, movements, organizations, and other pro-democracy media.
  • Provide an information tool that counters the corporate and right-wing spin on events.
  • Ensure our mission as the voice of the CPUSA and socialism, the labor and mass democratic movements, and independent and pro-democracy media.

Please ensure we continue that mission by donating $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or more!

The mass communication revolution has complicated our job immeasurably, in both good and bad ways. On the one hand, we can reach millions cheaply. It allows us, collectively, to report on grassroots struggles for worker’s rights and union organizing campaigns, movements against police brutality, and for voting rights, reproductive rights, environmental justice, immigrant rights, and about progressive electoral campaigns and coalitions.

On the other, the extreme-right and fascists, backed by billionaires, have purposefully constructed a vast right-wing/fascist propaganda ecosystem over the past 30 years integrating it with the GOP. Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter and his removal of all barriers to disinformation and hate content moved Twitter into the fascist propaganda ecosystem.

This “information warfare” is a massive threat to democracy.

Lies, disinformation, hate, QAnon conspiracy theories and fascist ideas are polluting the public space and framing coverage by the mainstream media, and influencing tens of millions with cult-like behavior. That ecosystem has been instrumental in mobilizing the mass MAGA voter base, the 70 million votes for Trump, including millions of primarily white working-class people.

Globally, extreme right-wing and fascist movements and governments use social media to interfere openly in U.S. internal affairs on the side of MAGA fascism.

Consequently, information bubbles produce starkly different realities and fuel political polarization.

These are among the 200,000 reasons achieving the People’s World Fund Drive goal is necessary!

Here are a few more:

  • People’s World’s mission is to assist in organizing and mobilizing the pro-democracy and anti-MAGA majority, including every force that is ready to defend constitutional democracy, organized labor, social and environmental justice movements, people of faith, the Democratic Party and Biden administration, independents, etc., to oust every MAGA Republican from positions of power. To broaden efforts to flip red state legislatures and red areas of blue states under MAGA autocratic rule.
  • To help develop and bring a united multi-racial working class and people to the forefront of the mass pro-democracy movement, to assist in organizing multi-racial working-class communities, including engaging those swayed by MAGA ideas. To cover the exciting new campaigns to build the labor movement, social and environmental grassroots struggles and electoral campaigns.
  • To build the pro-democracy media ecosystem and alliance.

Therefore, we count on you – our readers and supporters – to help us raise $200,000! Please donate at any level: $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or more.

We’ll succeed if every reader takes responsibility for the fund drive. Together we can do it! ¡Sí se puede!

In solidarity,
