People’s World correspondents hit the streets to talk to protesters at the March on the DNC in Chicago on Monday. Thousands marched through downtown demanding the U.S. stop providing weapons to Israel and an end to the genocide in Gaza.

Activists also defended immigrant workers; called for moving the money from the war budget to fund community needs—schools, healthcare, and housing. They defended LGBTQ rights, supported workers’ right to unionize and strike, and called for community control of the police. ‘

The main issue for those marching was the demand for an arms embargo. They understand this as the only avenue to securing a ceasefire and blocking the fascist threat, a necessary precondition to achieving all their other demands.
