New Delhi, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in New Delhi on Sunday under tight security to launch what he described as the third phase of the strategic partnership with India. She identified the areas to be included in this new cooperation phase as climate, agriculture, health and education.

She is expected to mend fences regarding the two countries’ views on how to fight climate change in anticipation of an important conference to discuss the matter scheduled for year end.

Industrialized countries led by the United States demand heavy investment on less pollutant systems by India and China, while developing nations demand from industrialized countries technology transfer and cuts in carbon dioxide emissions.

Clinton arrived on Friday night to Mumbai, where she met representatives of big Indian private business yesterday. She is expected to meet in Delhi with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna and President of Congress Party Sonia Gandhi.

According to The Hindu daily, besides exchanging views on civil nuclear cooperation, the parties are expected to discuss the Mumbai attack and its repercussion, economic and military links and the situation in what Washington calls the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, as well as terrorism and ways to fight it.
