Make a pledge and support the workers’ fighting newspaper

Dear Friends,

I hope this letter finds you healthy.

As for wealthy and wise? You must already be wise since you support the workers’ newspaper: the People’s Weekly World and Nuestro Mundo.

You don’t need to be wealthy to make a contribution to this unique American institution.

Currently we are re-tooling for a more robust website with our partner publications and organizations. This infrastructure investment alone will cost $100,000.

Pledge to support our share of this investment with a contribution —$25, $50, $100 or more.

You know the PWW is not just another progressive voice. The PWW places special emphasis on the role of organized labor in advancing the democratic rights of all working people and their allies.

Labor — the most organized sector of our multi-racial, diverse working class — is the core of a wider movement of people of color, women, youth and other democratic forces. This movement is fighting for President Barack Obama’s progressive agenda while laying the basis for further pro-people change.

And many people write and tell us how much it means to them. Here’s what they say: “Thank you so much for writing this article.” “Wal-Mart shouldn’t only be unionized…It should be turned into a public utility to be democratically operated by the workers.” “You have been great, keep posting like this, I just love your work!”

Pledge to support our share of this investment with a contribution —$25, $50, $100 or more.

The PWW has been in the forefront of fighting for the Employee Free Choice Act and showing it is not just a labor law, but necessary for communities and small businesses and a necessary part of getting through this economic depression and expanding democracy.

PWW reporters were on site when the workers from Republic Windows and Doors took over the factory until their demands were met by the company and Bank of America.

Yes, you and I are living in very turbulent times. There will be global struggles throughout this economic crisis. What’s needed? The PWW and its voice for unity and internationalism. The voice of workers indicting the systemic problems of capitalism and pointing to alternatives — including socialist solutions.

You can make it so. Pledge to support our share of this investment with a contribution —$25, $50, $100 or more.

Yours in solidarity, Teresa Albano
