WASHINGTON—From Hot Springs, Ark. to Houston, from a church on Grant Circle in D.C., to sites in Washington state, MoveOn.org and its allies plan to protest on July 25 against the latest killings—two in one week—by President Trump’s ICE agents.
But the outrage over ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents’ killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston and Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine, apparently hasn’t moved the Trump regime or its congressional Republican sycophants.
Trump Homeland Security Department Secretary Mark Wayne Mullin floated the idea of reining in ICE, which is part of his department, by ordering its agents to cease their extensive traffic stops. Trump promptly overruled Mullin, via a late-night tweet on his Truth Social platform.
And before that, Congress’s ruling Republicans enacted, and Trump signed, a law doling out billions of dollars to fund ICE through the rest of Trump’s presidential term and beyond, into fiscal 2029.
Which won’t stop MoveOn and its allies, especially since the organization reports, witnesses to Salgado’s murder have been detained by ICE and held in its concentration camps, while Guerrero was shot down as his spouse and three-year-old daughter looked on, traumatized.
“ICE claimed both of these men weaponized their vehicles, but in both cases, witnesses on the ground tell a different story. Lorenzo’s and Johan’s families deserve the truth. But we have to come together to let ICE and the Trump administration know that they won’t get away with terrorizing our communities. We need accountability NOW!” MoveOn said in boldface type.

“Trump’s top priority is controlling our neighbors and pushing his anti-immigration agenda. This administration has been using the same playbook to terrorize our neighbors and take lives. While ICE just received $70 billion in taxpayer funding, our families are suffering, and our communities are scared. But this is what they want,” MoveOn says.
“Our task is to keep Lorenzo’s and Johan’s stories in the headlines, expose ICE’s out-of-control violence, and build the public pressure needed to force Congress and DHS to hold ICE agents accountable, end dangerous traffic stops, and cooperate with independent investigations.”
